Mitochondria in the living cell exist as a dynamic network that is constantly remodeled by fusion and fission events. Recent work has demonstrated that inhibition of fusion and fission affect mitochondrial functions including respiration and apoptosis, and reveal how continuous breakdown and reconnection of the mitochondrial architecture may affect mitochondrial bioenergetics. This 45- minute webinar discusses how bioenergetic efficiency of the mitochondrial population within a cell may be quality controlled.
