Custom Labware
Our customers are often surprised by how quickly and inexpensively we can produce a custom product for their needs.
We design and fabricate tooling, mold parts, and perform assembly and testing under one roof. We may implement a customer’s finished design, or collaborate with their design engineers to create and optimize a part for performance, cost, appearance and other important attributes.
The process typically starts with a no-obligation design review, followed by the production of an SLA model for testing. We often mold a single component of a multi-part product before building a complete mold. More challenging designs often involve a series of design changes to optimize the performance of a molded part within a larger instrument, kit, or unique application.
Minor changes to our Distinctive Microplates can often be made at low cost using inserts to production tools.
We are a highly flexible manufacturing shop. We produce from hundreds to tens of thousands of parts per run. For low volumes, we offer low cost manual assembly and testing, and automate larger volume runs for cost and efficiency.
Design: (Picture of Engineer in front of Solidworks)
Our design capabilities include Solidworks and CADKEY. We can translate any CAD format and work with you to develop the ultimate custom product. We can develop a 3D model for you and then create a SLA prototype so you can see exactly what the part will look like before making a commitment to a new injection mold. With the SLA, all the dimensions will mimic actual part so you can perform some basic fit, form and functional analysis. Our goal is to get a mutual understanding of your needs and ours before the commitment is made.
Mold Making (Picture of the shop)
We have 3,000 square feet of a tool shop in house Our equipment includes the following:
- CNC milling machines
- Wire EDM
- Traditional EDM
- Bridgeports
- Thermoform prototyping
- Grinding
- Optical Polishing
With this equipment we design and develop single cavity molds using MUD insert sets for prototyping or mutli-cavity molds using traditional mold bases with stainless steel construction. (Picture of molds) With an in house tool shop we also develop our own automation equipment to reduce manufacturing costs and become more efficient and control quality. (Picture of spotting equipment and other fixtures) With the tool shop on site there is no down time with your molds. We take full responsibility of your mold and guarantee the operation. This is through scheduled maintenance with your mold throughout its life.
Molding (Picture of the room)
Our molding room is a class 100,000 certified clean room. There are 4 molding machines ranging from 50-150 tons with hydraulic and electric machines. Each machine is employed with an operator constantly inspecting parts coming off the molds. All of inspection is done in line during the complete manufacturing process. We can mold a variety of materials including polypropylene, polystyrene, COC, ECTFE, polycarbonate, TPE and EVA. All of these can have color options on request. Our operation is very flexible from molding hundreds of parts to tens of thousands of parts per run. Our machines allow us to offer insert molding and coining operations.
Assembly (Picture of the room)
We offer turn-key services, which allow us to deliver complete custom labware to your door without having to do any further inspection or re-packaging. Our assembly area is a class 10,000 certified clean room with services that include:
- ultrasonic welding
- hot stamping
- punch and die
- corona treatment
- vacuum packaging
- filter encapsulation
- automated UV cure adhesive bonding
- membrane conversion
- flurophour spotting.
Testing (picture of the lab)
Our turnkey service goes one step further than anyone else. We have a microbiology lab on site where we can perform functional quality control testing with your parts to ensure their performance after you have accepted receipt. Our lab consists of PCR, electrophoresis, DNA gel forming, bio burden validation and plate readers. The tests that are performed are unique to you and mutually agree upon at the start of the project.
Quality Assurance and Control (picture of video inspection)
We have a special controlled room for only this purpose. There is state of the art calibrated equipment to ensure the part meets your specifications. The equipment includes: video inspection, coordinate measurement machine, gauge blocks, gauge pins, venier calipers and micrometers.
